TAONI Media Assistants
Hands-on media and technology training for Metro Atlanta youth and young adults — covering the events, change-makers, and organizations making a difference in our community.

3 months, renewable
Schedule
Monday & Wednesday evenings (afterschool), plus Learning Lab and online media-training sessions as needed. Weekend availability for event coverage is required.

What it is
TAONI Media Assistants gives participants supervised, real-world training in event documentation, photography, video, digital media, and responsible technology use. Assistants gain experience covering TAONI Basketball's Full Court Press programming, TAONI events, partner organizations, and institutions of higher learning.
Who it serves
Metro Atlanta youth and young adults (ages 13–24) interested in media, storytelling, event documentation, and technology-enabled creative careers.
What participants do
Training covers on-set fundamentals, photo and video capture, editing workflows, live event coverage, storytelling, and portfolio development.
What you leave with
Real-world media experience, a portfolio of documented work, foundational creative and technical skills, and a pathway into advanced TAONI tracks like TAONI Bridgeway.
Curriculum
- Module 1
On-set fundamentals
Studio etiquette, call sheets, gear handling, and your role as an assistant.
- Module 2
Photo and video capture
Exposure, composition, lighting, framing, and clean audio capture.
- Module 3
Editing workflows
Photo and video editing fundamentals, export specs, and asset organization.
- Module 4
Live event coverage
Covering events end-to-end — from arrival through delivery.
- Module 5
Storytelling
Finding the story, interviews, b-roll for narrative, and TAONI tone of voice.
- Module 6
Portfolio development
Selecting hero work, building a reel, and presenting finished pieces.
What you'll need
- Reliable transportation to partner event sites
- Email + smartphone for communication
- Willingness to be on set, on time, on task
- TAONI-issued equipment provided for program use (remains TAONI property)
